Route overview:

This event starts at Alum Bay. You can just run this marathon, or you may be continuing from the day before.

The route has a sharp start, as we head out of Alum Bay, and head straight up and over Headon Warren, and then back down to Totland Bay and then along the coast to Colwell Bay. Then onwards and past Fort Victoria before crossing the bridge at Yarmouth which marks 5 miles.

We now follow the road for a mile and a half and turn off onto Victoria Road and follow the route through Bouldnor Forest and onwards to Newtown Bay. The next 4 miles waind around the bay. Just before 14 miles, you reach the drink station by Newtown Town Hall.

We then turn towards Porchfield, and on to Thorness Bay holiday park, where we take the little road down to the bay itself. From the bay we pick up the footpath and follow the path to Gurnard.

A run along Cowes esplanade now, hopefully with the wind behind us, and then we wind through the town to get to Arctic Road and pick up the cycle path. 3 miles of cycle path for a nice flat finish to the Bargemans Rest for a very well deserved drink!
